Our heritage series combines classical brewing techniques and rich Houston flavors to orient drinkers towards different points in the history of the city. Recipes that begin as traditional are quickly transformed and redefined as we combine vintage flavors in new ways. Single batch and anti-session, our Secessionist Series of beers are Herculean tributes to the revolutionary acts of sedition that mutineers (like ourselves), commit to every day in the volatile brewing world.
Crush City IPA
Come and crush it!
We brewed this bright & citrusy go-to American IPA with Mandarina hops as our ode to Houston; crushable all day, everyday.
Fine Print:ABV: 7.0%
Mandarina cruises a smooth malt body from sip to swallow with a resinous, herbal follow up, finishing crisp and bright. This fun, easy drinking and approachable IPA is an H-Town classic.
An authentic American cream ale
Not much has changed in Texas over the past 180 years, it's still hotter than hell and not going to cool off anytime soon. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to do right now is put on lederhosen and drink Octoberfest beers or pumpkin peach ales.
Hallertau Hops give this authentic American Cream Ale its tempered aromatic qualities, while the Pilsner and Light Munich malt backbone provide a crisp, crushable finish. It's our newest go-to when we want to beat the heat. Canned for portability, it is a perfect beer for tailgating, drinking poolside, and sharing with your friends.
Buffbrew teamed up with renowned Houston bar owner Brad Moore to create a new staple that Texans can be proud to drink.
Fine Print:ABV: 5.8%
Hallertau hops give it tempered and spicy aromatic qualities, while the flaked corn malt adds depth for a smooth, crisp finish.
Great White Buffalo
The liquid that launched a golden age for Witbiers in Houston.
Light, crisp, refreshing and smooth. Brewed with sweet and seville orange peels and coriander for a spiced citrus taste. Perfect for weekend cookouts or any time the temperature rises above 84 degrees.
Fine Print:ABV: 5.8%
Easily drinkable and straight to the point with a light citrus note to compliment the soft malt-backbone. It's brewed with sweet and seville orange peel plus coriander.
"You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas," Davy Crockett
We call 1836 a "Copper Ale" because it's copper colored, but it fits no specific style. Much like Houston, "1836" is one of a kind. This blend combines our three favorite brewing traditions: the British Bitters, the Belgian Trappist ales, & the American Hop Movement. In honor of Texas Independence Day, this brew is our pride and joy.
Fine Print:ABV: 5.7%
This beer combines two of our favorite flavors: a sweet and toasty measure of Victory malts counter-balanced with the earthy, woody, Powerful, but balanced aromatics of citrusy & floral American & British hops. The bready, biscuit flavors of Victory Malt (an American spin on the Belgian Biscuit malts) finishes clean leaving a dry roast on the mouthfeel.
Do not ask for whom the cowbell tolls.
THE COWBELL TOLLS FOR THEE.
Available year-round on draught & now sold in 16oz cans. Houston, Yes We Can! Released 5/5/14.
Fine Print:ABV: 9%
Surprisingly balanced and drinkable, given its stats. The stripped-down malt bill lets the noble hops go crazy with floral and grassy bouquets.
